Dance No. 2 is the first selection in Baxter’s flute-and-guitar arrangement of Moszkowski’s Three Spanish Dances. Light, melodic, and rhythmically graceful, the dance introduces the set’s Romantic charm and Spanish-inspired character.
In this arrangement, the flute carries the melodic line with clarity and warmth, while the guitar provides rhythmic support, harmonic color, and a chamber texture well suited to the dance’s elegant character.
Dance No. 2 should be shaped with rhythmic poise, clear articulation, and a natural singing quality in the flute. The guitar part should remain buoyant and transparent, supporting the dance character without becoming heavy.
